Production

It is a story about the people on other part of the world. Bharat Bala narrated a one-liner to Dhanush at the National Award ceremony in Delhi, where the actor had gone to collect an award for his performance in Aadukalam. Impressed by Bala's narration, the actor agreed to play the lead role in this film.[5]A. R. Rahman, who had previously collaborated with Bharat Bala for the Vande Mataram music video, signed on to be a part of the project.[6]Parvathi Menon was also thereafter signed on to play a key role in the film.[7][8]Appukutty is also doing an important role in this film.[9]Dhanush portrays a site-worker role in this flick. [10]

Filming

The first schedule of the film began in Namibia, with scenes including a fight sequence supervised by Dilip Subarayan, being canned.[11] The shooting for the last schedule is going on in Nagercoil.[12]In its unique way the entire film was shot in reverse. The climax scenes were canned first and hence the last scene shot was the beginning scene of the film. [13]

Soundtrack

By early May 2012, A. R. Rahman had finished composing two songs which were being filmed in Africa.[14] As per reports of August 18, 2012, a visually scintillating yet emotional song named Vizhithidu Nenje crooned by the music composer himself, was finalized after being shot in one of the highest off coastal deserts of the world featuring the leading duo.
