Vidiyal (English: Dawn) is a 2013 Tamil film written and directed by Selvaraj, Joint Secretary of the South Indian Film Artistes' Association,[1] which has Sarath Kumar in dual roles and Sneha as the leading lady. The film also has Sruthi Prakash of Naan Avanillai 2 as the other heroine. The film, produced by Nalini Sundarajan, commenced shoot from 12 March 2010 and is slated to release on August, 2012.[2]

Production

Vidiyal commenced shooting from 12 March 2010 and the first schedule is at Tirunelveli, Madurai, Tenkasi and Kutralam for a duration of 40 days. The story travels between 1946, 1976 and 2010.[3] The shoot was postponed to 2 weeks from 20 March as Sarath Kumar got hurt when he was shooting for his Kannada film.[4] The movie’s climax was shot in a village set erected at a cost of Rs 75 lakhs at Chinna Sankaran Kovil with the entire film’s cast and 500 junior artistes and 100 stuntmen taking part in it for five days. It is expected to hit the cinema halls by August, 2012.[5]
The film has Sneha in the lead pair opposite Sarath Kumar, Sneha is appearing as Muslim girl in this movie. The pair was likely to happen long back when Sneha was asked to pair with him in Jaggubhai, but she turned down the offer as she was not comfortable with it.[6] Then they were speculated to be paired in a new film which was about to be directed by a newcomer, who was an associate of Ameer, but again nothing materialised well. Then Bhavana was asked for the other heroine role, but as she was busy with her Kannada projects, she couldn't accept the offer and later was given to Sruthi Prakash.
